Badrinath Temple, is dedicated to Badrinath as Lord Vishnu. BADRINATH is situated at an altitude of 3,132 meters above sea level. It was built by the eighth century philosopher saint Adi Guru Shankaracharya. The height of the Badrinath peak is 7,138 meters from 27 km west of it. In the Mahabharata and Puranas it was known as Badrivan, Visala Badrikatram. This temple is located in the middle of two mountains named Nar and Narayan. In winter, the doli of Badrinath Maharaj is kept in Narasimha temple of Joshimath. The priests here are Rawls of South India.
