Chopta serves as the base for various treks, including the Tungnath trek and Chandrashila trek.
5. Trek to Tungnath:
The trek to Tungnath starts from Chopta and is a moderate trek of around 3.5 kilometers. It offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks.
6. Chandrashila Summit:
Tungnath serves as the base for the Chandrashila trek, which takes you to the Chandrashila summit, providing stunning panoramic views of the Himalayas.

Morning
The Chopta Tungnath trek is where spirituality meets Himalayan beauty. Starting from the lush meadows of Chopta, the trail gently winds through rhododendron forests and opens up to breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks. Expect a moderate climb leading to Tungnath, the world’s highest Shiva temple, and if you push a little further, the summit of Chandrashila rewards you with a 360° panorama of the mighty Himalayas. This trek is short yet magical—perfect for beginners, families, and anyone seeking peace, adventure, and divine vibes in the mountains.
We will start early today after breakfast. Listen to music, play antakshari, chitchat with your fellow passengers or find some other alternative to spend 7 to 8hrs in the vehicle. As it is a long drive to reach Duggalbitta, which are small beautiful meadows where we will check in to the beautiful Campsite. The day is kept at your leisure, with options of spending the day resting, clicking photographs, going for short walks around the meadows or interacting with the locals and fellow travellers. Dinner and overnight stay at chopta.
Rise-up to today’s mountain morning, this is going to be a tough day, we have a lot to look forward to! Today we begin our trek full of tales and extended walk to a steep gradient. During this 6 kms long trek, you shall get to experience the land of legends. At 3680 mts, we will be at Tungnath, one of the Panch Kedars; Tungnath is the highest Shiv Temple in the world. This gives you another reason why you should not miss on to this one!
Just trek for few more kms and we shall reach the highest destination of our trek, Chandrashila Peak. From here, we get a 180degree view of higher Himalayan peaks such as – Nanda Devi, Bandarpunch, Chaukhamba, and Kedar Peak.

After breakfast, you will be starting on your trek to Deoriatal lake which is located at an altitude 2438m above sea level and will take around 2hrs to reach. It is a 2.5 km long trek.
After resting for a while and taking in the final moments on the mountain, you will start back towards Rishikesh
