About The Brahmatal Lake Trek:

Another jewel of the Himalayas which is untouched by trekkers around the world is the Brahmatal trek, which is devoted to Lord Brahma. It is beautifully positioned amidst the Himalayas and covered with blankets of snow. The trail allows you to see the centuries-old forest of Oak and Rhododendron. Walking in meadows besides Brahamatal Ridge you can see many sites of Roopkund Trek. A glance at the Garhwal Mountains in the distance on a clear day will totally melt your heart.

Day 1

Rishikesh to Lohajung(257 kms / 7-8 hrs Drive)

  • Upon your arrival in Kathgodam early morning, you will be picked from the railway station or bus stand.
  • You will be travelling for 9 hours to reach Lohajung which is 257 KM away from Rishikesh.
  • By late afternoon, you will reach Lohajung where you will be staying at night in a guest house.

Day 2

Lohajung to Bekaltal(6.5 kms/ 4hrs)

  • Today’s trek will start after breakfast. Commence the trip to Bekaltal.
  • En route, let your eyes enjoy some awe-inspiring views of Nandaghunti Peak.
  • Trek through the forests of oaks and firs. Conclude the 4-5 hours long trek after you reach Bekaltal. The total distance you cover would be 8 KMs. ¢ Stay overnight in tents.

Day 3

Bekaltal to Brahmatal(7 kms/ 4hrs)

  • Enjoy the snow-covered pathways that let you reach Brahmatal. It will take around 4 hours to complete the trek.
  • The trails go through a forest and when you reach Telandi top, behold the enchanting views of the mighty Himalayas.
  • Continue walking to finally arrive in Brahmatal or Khabekhal Lake.
  • Stay overnight in tents.



Day 4

Brahmatal to Brahmatal top and back ( 2 kms/ 3hrs)

  • Right after breakfast, get ready to climb to the top of Brahmatal.
  • Tread along the tricky pathways which go through Chota Jhandidar and Bada Jhandidar.
  • This trail is encircled by a mountain ridge with valleys on both sides.
  • It will take 3 hours to reach Brahmatal Top.
  • On this journey, revel in the glimpses of magnificent Himalayan Ranges. Mt. Trishul is very close along with the views of Nandhaghunti.
  • From the top, you can revel in the exotic views of snow covered Himalayan Ranges.
  • Back to the same camp site in brahmatal. Rest & Sightseeing all day.
  • Stay overnight in tents.


Day 5

Brahmatal to Lohajung(9kms/ 5hrs)

  • Today, the distance is 9 kms. you will trail back to Lohajung directly via jhandidhar & Daldum.
  • Once you reach here, check-in to your guest house and take a rest.


Day 6

Lohajung to Rishikesh

  • Conclude the trek and depart to Rishikesh early morning.
  • After your arrival at Rishikesh, the Brahmatal trek package comes to an end.
  • But, you can plan how to spend the day fruitfully on your own, be it sightseeing or shopping, Rishikesh will not disappoint you.

Things to carry for the Brahmatal trek:
1) Woollen clothes like sweaters, thermals, pairs of gloves, caps, mufflers, socks:

Heavy and complete three to five clothing layers are minimal during Winters as the weather might get unpredictable. Light woolen is enough for summer trips.

2) Windproof jacket

3) Hiking shoes, Snow boots, sandals or slippers

4) Walking stick or a trekking pole

5) Accessories like sunglasses with UV protection, sunscreen lotions, lip balm, headlamp, torch with extra batteries.

6) Toiletries: Sanitizer, tissues, liquid soaps, paste and toothbrush

7) Medicines: Diamox for altitude sickness, essential medicines for headache, stomach upset, and regular medication if you are taking any, band-aids, volini spray, and anything else.

8) Phone chargers or power bank

9) Raincoat, extra shirts/t-shirts, and trekking pants

During Monsoons, please do not forget to carry a raincoat, an umbrella, and an extra pair of clothes.

10) Identity card and photocopies.

Day 2

Lohajung to Bekaltal. (4-5 hrs trek, 6 km).

Day 3

Bekatal to Brahmatal. (6-7 hrs trek, 7 km).

Day 4

Brahmatal to Brahmatal Top and back to Campsite.

Day 5

Brahmatal to Lohajung (6-7 hours).

Day 6

Lohajung to Rishikesh (Drive 8-10 hrs).
